MAC: OS 10 - How to Add a Network Printer


Need to connect to a network printer is OS X 10.3 or lower.


  1. Click on the printer icon on your desktop.
  2. If you have not previously set up a printer, a dialog box will come up that will say You have no printers available.
  3. Click Add.
  4. For network printing, choose LPR Printers using IP from the drop down list.
  5. In LPR Printer's Address field, put in the IP address for the printer you are trying to connect to.
  6. Under Printer Model, select the model of the printer you are connecting to or leave as Generic.
  7. Click Add.
  8. The printer should then be installed.
