FAQ - Network Configuration for Windows XP

To setup a LAN connection within the ISU network on a Windows XP machine follow these steps:
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click Network Connections
- If Network Connections is not present, click Classic View located at the top of the column located on the right side of this window
- Right click Local Area Connection
- Left click Properties
- Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- Select Use the following IP address and Use the following DNS server addresses
- Enter the following information.
- IP address: (Get this from the Help Desk.)
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway: 134.50.(building segment number).x
- Preferred DNS Server: 134.50.254.5
- Alternate DNS Server: 134.50.57.57
- Click the Advanced button
- Click the DNS tab towards the top of the window.
- In the middle of the window, fill in the bubble adjacent to Append these DNS suffixes
- Click the Add button
- In this box type isu.edu
- Click OK
- Click the WINS tab towards the top of the screen.
- Click the Add button.
- Input 134.50.250.43
- Click Add
- Click the Add button once more.
- Input 134.50.205.125
- Click Add
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Click OK
Your computer should now be configured for the ISU network.
