FAQ - Network Configuration for Windows XP

To setup a LAN connection within the ISU network on a Windows XP machine follow these steps:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Network Connections
    1. If Network Connections is not present, click Classic View located at the top of the column located on the right side of this window
  4. Right click Local Area Connection
  5. Left click Properties
  6. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  7. Select Use the following IP address and Use the following DNS server addresses
  8. Enter the following information.
    1. IP address: (Get this from the Help Desk.)
    2. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    3. Default Gateway: 134.50.(building segment number).x
    4. Preferred DNS Server: 134.50.254.5
    5. Alternate DNS Server: 134.50.57.57
  9. Click the Advanced button
  10. Click the DNS tab towards the top of the window.
  11. In the middle of the window, fill in the bubble adjacent to Append these DNS suffixes
  12. Click the Add button
    1. In this box type isu.edu
    2. Click OK
  13. Click the WINS tab towards the top of the screen.
  14. Click the Add button.

    1. Input 134.50.250.43
    2. Click Add
  15. Click the Add button once more.

    1. Input 134.50.205.125
    2. Click Add
  16. Click OK
  17. Click OK
  18. Click OK

Your computer should now be configured for the ISU network.
